Tuition Fees:
£14,500 Per Year

Total payment required is £14,500 per annum payable to the University of Gibraltar. This includes tuition fees of £6,250 and Research College Bench fees of £8,250. The Research College Bench fees are primarily so that candidates recruited through OLC Colleges are subject to a thorough Supervisor Matching Process where a primary supervisor will need to be assigned from our core college faculty or associate researchers, to ensure there is sufficient capacity to support your research project. A secondary (specialist) supervisor will also be identified and assigned as your project develops, usually when the feasibility of your research is established. This Research College Bench fee also ensures your PhD at the University of Gibraltar immediately benefits from a bespoke and immersive experience coupling the expertise of OLC’s 30 years of research experience in the UK regulatory system.

Candidates will fulfil the entry requirements of the University as expressed in the PhD programme specification. The duration of studies will be fully funded for three years and if an extension to that period is required, up to the maximum of two subsequent years, shall be funded.

The University of Gibraltar will provide a range of facilities and support structures to assist the research studies. These include:

  • The degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) will be awarded by the University. The degree is to be managed by the University Research and Research Degrees Committee;
  • Secondary supervisors; which could be locally or internationally-based;
  • Use of the University of Gibraltar premises, with access to relevant Associate Campuses; including The Gibraltar Botanic Gardens, The Gibraltar National Museum and The Gibraltar Garrison Library; The Gibraltar Health Authority and various business partners;
  • Access to specialist equipment where applicable;
  • Taught, on line and face to face, courses to complement and support main research themes;
  • A collegiate atmosphere within which to undertake research.

On completion researchers will have produced a piece of original work (a thesis) based on independent study that can withstand the critical scrutiny of the academic discipline community; and have

  • Contributed specifically to the knowledge development of the respective academic field
  • Enhanced and extended their personal and professional capabilities.
