The HND Healthcare Professions’ Support For England gives level 4 and 5 qualifications, that aim to provide you, the student with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be an effective practitioner in a variety of health and social care settings. The course is also designed to develop students as professional, self-reflecting individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the healthcare sector. As part of the programme there is a requirement to complete 450 hours work placement across the duration of the programme.

Successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of HND Healthcare Professions’ Support For England from Sunderland College

Entry Requirements

You must be over 18 years old and have either of the following:

Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Access to Higher Education Certificate or A level equivalent. 

And you must have achieved GCSE Maths and English or equivalent Numeracy and Literacy qualifications at Level 2.

Applications are also welcome from mature applicants with relevant work experience. Contact us for further information.

Tuition Fees:
£5,999 Per Year

You can choose to pay your tuition up-front or take out a tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance England which currently defers payment until you start earning £25,000 per year.

Modules are delivered using a range of assessments to develop your skills both academically and within the workplace. An example of the modules you will study are:

  • Fundamentals of Evidence-Based Practice. 
  • Supporting the Individual journey.
  • Law, Policy and Ethical Practice in Health and Social Care. 
  • Addressing Health Inequalities.
  • Supporting individuals with specific needs.

Within your academic year you will study 14 modules across two years. One module will require you to produce an assessment on Personal and Professional Development. 

You will be taught by academics that have relevant industry experience and subject specialisms that will help support your learning journey.

When studying this course you will develop transferable, employable, organisational and managerial skills such as;

  • Analysing and selecting information.
  • Communicating effectively
  • Understanding and interpreting numerical data.
  • Problem solving.
  • Personal and Professional Development.
  • Time Management.

HND Healthcare Practice for England Qualification can also lead to progression from Higher Education, onto a relevant Top-Up Degree.

The HND Healthcare Practice for England qualification provides you an awareness of different roles in Healthcare. The programme could lead you, the student into a variety of Career opportunities such as:

  • Adult Nurse.
  • Care Worker.
  • Management of Care Homes.
  • Community Development Worker.
  • Counsellor.
  • Mental Health Practitioner.
  • Occupational Therapist.
  • Social Worker.
  • Youth Worker.

Alternatively, you could enter the workplace as a specialist behavioral support worker, a drug or alcohol counsellor or go into teaching.
