The Organisational Learning Centre is an Approved Learning Provider in the MOD’s Enhanced Learning Credits (ELC) scheme.
Our ELCAS Courses promotes adult and lifelong learning for members of the Armed Forces. ELC provides financial support in each of a maximum of three separate financial years for higher level learning, leading to a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 or above.
OLC provide Higher Education courses in our four subject areas Business and Strategy, Healthcare Practice, Computing and Education and Training.
At OLC we believe that those who have served in the Armed Forces possess transferable skills that make them valuable in the job market. Armed Services Personnel are professionals that possess strong communication and interpersonal skills – gained through past experience of taking and conveying orders. During service armed forces personnel gain organisational skills, project management experience, team working, leadership, resilience, task orientation, communication, problem solving, resourcefulness and have relentlessly shown dedication to achieving successful outcomes. These and many other transferable skills are relatable to a long list of disciplines and occupations, some of which include the corporate, government, arts and security sectors.
At OLC, we are committed to helping you in translating these skills into your CV in a simple but effective way with the right guidance and support.
The OLC approach to ELCAS courses and learning programmes has always started by defining the unique needs and challenges facing our students and learners. By listening to our customers, and working with them, we have been able to develop and deliver the most appropriate programme for their needs. Many of our programmes of study are now delivered in a flexible format, mixing independent, direct learning, face to face with tutor support and classroom tradition teaching methods.
All our study programmes include reflective learning which allows students to reflect on their goals, personal development and progress. As with all our programmes, defined progression routes are available to further qualifications and higher education thus providing learners with direction for their next career development steps. As a College of Higher Education Excellence, this is a great opportunity for current and former members of our armed forces to obtain accredited qualifications with pathways to university degree level qualifications.
Our learning courses can help ex-military professionals to boost their employability and hone the skills they already possess by gaining a qualification in an area such as leadership and management or coaching and mentoring – resulting in a smooth transition into new employment. We provide a flexible approach to all our adult learning courses and armed forces personnel are suited to our focus on the “end in mind” driven approach to gaining our Higher Education qualifications.
As well as the courses and individual modules, we also provide a comprehensive student networking platform, personal tutors and welfare officers, 1-2-1 tutorials and online tutorials, group webinars and a bank of pre-recorded group webcasts.
In addition to a variety of teaching and learning supplementary materials concentrating on transferable skills, wellness, wellbeing, fitness, and personal development, learners are provided access to a diverse range of resources.
You and your team can rest assured that all the necessary support to achieve success is readily available at any time.
The admissions Criteria will be course dependent. For more information, visit the course page.
